framlingem: (you dig?)
I missed last week; I plead having been in Buffalo and being tired enough that it completely escaped my mind.

So this week is a special one; one of my favourites. I know they're all my favourites, but this one never fails to bring a smile to my face. Read it aloud; even the worst reader can't help falling into the right tones and rythm with it, quiet and intense. That's the best thing about an Angelou poem; they are not silent poems.

I am far too amused by Google's satellite images of places.

Especially that while Corner Brook is in true colour, high resolution, and glorious, St. John's is in false colour and you can't zoom in very far.

Seriously. I can see my windowsill in CB. In St. John's, I can't even see my street. :p (Except it isn't really my street anymore but it will always be my street)

This is presumably because in terms of natural resources, the Corner Brook area is more important than St. John's; I'd give you dollars to doughnuts that the satellite images were originally paid for by timber or mining concerns.

Good day today. M had two SCUBA dives on a wreck about sixty klicks out of Cornwall, and asked me along for the drive and to help out the divers. I didn't even get rained on!
