I am far too amused by Google's satellite images of places.

Especially that while Corner Brook is in true colour, high resolution, and glorious, St. John's is in false colour and you can't zoom in very far.

Seriously. I can see my windowsill in CB. In St. John's, I can't even see my street. :p (Except it isn't really my street anymore but it will always be my street)

This is presumably because in terms of natural resources, the Corner Brook area is more important than St. John's; I'd give you dollars to doughnuts that the satellite images were originally paid for by timber or mining concerns.

Good day today. M had two SCUBA dives on a wreck about sixty klicks out of Cornwall, and asked me along for the drive and to help out the divers. I didn't even get rained on!

Cool! 60 klicks out of Cornwall...not too far from us then. Today was a little drizzly, but all in all a nice one. Mind you, we were in Quebec, near Maniwaki, lol.

Yes. I haven't guessed why the town of Arnprior has such good resolution either. At first I thought it might be because of the Emergency Preparedness College that used to be in town...but then I realised that the photos were from last year (because I can see the road construction on our street) and the college was closed by then. Not that I'm complaining, I just wonder how we end up with better resolution than, say, London or Kingston or Belleville.

(And, no, it's not just because we're so close to Ottawa, because if you follow the highway into Ottawa, there's a section in there that's not as high resolution. *shrug*

I had to install this. Wow. You can see our house, the garage, the van (now gone) in the driveway, the neighbour's pool, some cars in the church parking lot....and then...we found Lac Beaulieu in Quebec (fuzzy) and Stratford, Connecticut (also fuzzy), and Geneva, Switzerland (beautiful!)...you're right this is way too much fun.

Now back to studying.
