Am not going to Seattle after all. :(

On bright side (assuming the Pacific Northwest in October can be described as "bright" in any way at all!), am going to Vancouver instead! I've technically already been to Vancouver, but as I was five years old at the time, I'm not entirely sure that counts. Fantastic friend in Vancouver couldn't swing a trip to Seattle to hang out, so I'm going to Vancouver, because Becka > Space Needle.

I'm taking the train up from San Francisco after the work thing there, so I'll get to see lots of things on the way up. It's more than a full day of travel, but I'm okay with that. I like trains a lot, and don't mind sleeping in a chair. I'm taking the Coast Starlight line north, which sounds pretty exciting in a "the train company gave this line an exciting name!" sort of way.

The last time I went to Vancouver.. (Ok, the ONLY Time I went to Vancouver) I chose to fly out of Seattle when I was finished. I did this for two reasons. First, it was a hell of a lot cheaper to fly out of the states, and second, I'd never been to Seattle. So I caught the shuttle and stayed in this great flop house!

If you have the time and it's not cost prohibitive, I'd highly recommend it.

Vancouver and Seattle are not really all that different, tbh. Even the people who live in them often forget there's an actual national border in the middle (not to mention a lot of non-city-type land). The landmarks are different, as are the coffee chains, but the vibe of the place and people are really quite similar.
