Things I did yesterday:

Taught.
Taught some more. (Which involved admitting to both of my Sec5 students that I have no clue how the method for doing a particular Thing which was set out in their textbooks was supposed to work, suggesting they asked their teacher to clarify it, and teaching them my own method, which has about half as many steps and is way more intuitive.)
Delightedly told the story on Facebook of one of my grade 3 students whom I caught excitedly demonstrating a multiplication trick to her dad. This prompted a reply from one of my favourite high school teachers (Mr. T-------, who taught me gym and, by his existence - he was an American who moved to Canada because he did not want to go to Vietnam - taught me about sacrificing things to uphold principles) about the joy of teaching. I finally said thank you to him for being such a good teacher.
Prompted by this and by that post I made about the books, I also wrote a note to Charles Stross, the author of those books, telling him how much fun I was having reading his books (even the one which is an extrapolation of how my job might develop, leading me to alternately go "oh no, reading this is like being at work" and "oh, yay! Reading this is like being at work!"), and thanking him for the stories.
Also coerced two more people into writing letters to my flatmate; one in the U.S. and one in New Zealand. Actually, in the case of the American, the person sending the letter is my friend's son, who reportedly drew her pictures of flowers. :D
Today: Baking, doing as much prep-work as possible, cleaning a bit, teaching, then hosting a dinner party. Wheeee!
Tomorrow: Some business out in the West Island, lunch with my sister (though that might be difficult as she has not yet told me whether she's working, so I don't know to go to her place or to go to the zoo), then singing in front of a complete stranger.
