mRNA
You are mRNA. You're brilliant, full of important,
interesting information and you're a great
friend to the people you care about. You may
have sides to you that no one understands. But
while you understand more than most people,
you're only half-there most of the time.

Which Biological Molecule Are You?
brought to you by Quizilla

i am extremely intelligent and very wise. i think logically and rhetorically in order to get problems solved. if i'm not mad now, i'm getting very close.

how mad are you?

Messenger RNA. It's the copy of a part of the DNA that takes the "message" to other parts of the cell.

WOW! THE ENGLISH MAJOR KNOWS SOMETHING SCIENTIFIC!!! ::GASP!::

Wow! That the science-as-a-hobby-buff didn't, even!

Wow!

:D

LOL! Well, you have to understand that while I always plead "I'm an English major, so I'm stupid about these things!" I'm also a sci-fi fan... and some of that, at least, sprung from a curiosity in the sciences, even if I don't have the patience to *be* the scientist.

I also just happened to remember that from 10th grade bio. There are so damn many things I don't remember, but *that* I chose eto remember. ::snerk:: Go fig.

I knew what RNA was (Thank you Peter Watts and his Starfish books)...

Amazing what we learn from Sci-fi, isn't it? I couldn't do basic mechanics to save my life in high school, but I wrote a paper on particle physics and their applications in using solar sails for interplanetary travel. *g*

DEEP SPACE NINE!!!!

::cough::

But yeah, I was obsessed with cloning in HS. I was using ST terms to descibe it too. ::facepalm::

I learrned solar sails from Clarke :)

See, Star Trek is not always reliable when it comes to science fact :p Clarke and Heinlein are, and Robinson (Spider AND Kim), and certainly Sheffield.

LOL! No, it really isn't, but they're great at coming up with wacked out theories.

And, at any rate, replicative fading is an actual worry in terms of "real" science, so I could steal terms that ST used. ;-)

Well, I WAS gonna post the answer and be all smart, but someone beat me to it. Em, don't you remember anything from sec 3 bio? Well..I had Ms Calderone and so everything has been beaten into my head so that I'll never forget it. So yeah...mRNA is messenger RNA. Like your friend said.

We didn't do RNA in sec. 3 -we just stuck to DNA. Never learned about it!

mRNA is...

mRNA is the template used to translate genetic information (on DNA) into proteins...that's all I know right now, I have to go study it more.

From,

Guess who?

Er... I'm guessing El Tiffo (which really should be La Tiffa, all things considered).

That you, Tiff?
