Went to the dentist yesterday, as planned, for my wisdom-teeth-ectomy. That went about as well as could be expected. They let me bring my walkman, so Road Rage got me through it. The sedative they'd given me probably did its bit, too, but I really, really hated the disconnected feeling. Woke up this morning, and my face is so swollen I look like a chipmunk with full cheekpouches. Hurts like a bitch right now, too, and I can't take another painpill for an hour. *pout* On the other hand, rented the TFOTR DVD today, and spent the day browsing through the special features with Gypsy Rover. Also managed to work the blender enough to make myself a chocolate (Slimfast, as has actual nutritional value) and banana milkshake, and have been subsisting on that.

Also used the time to play with PaintShop and make myself a .gif Wall icon for my unhappy moments. Is it a bad sign when you're considering shelling out cash you don't have so you can have more LJ icons?

Have also done some thinking about Canada Day. The musician in Montreal is Remy 'Look, I sing the same words over and over in a silly falsetto and wear a funny hat so I must have soul' Shand. I am SO not going to see that.

Therefore, I'm thinking about popping down to the nation's capital for the day to see the Queen and whatever music they have there. The music cannot be worse, and I know for a fact there are cool folks in (or near) the nation's capital. Oi! Cool folks! (KcE, this means you, in case you hadn't figured it out). Fancy meeting me for lunch on Canada Day? I still owe you money, I know - can I ease some of that debt by buying you a meal somewhere?

Does my new icon not ROCK? (heh - pun not intended)

Will not make comment on Canada needing to still be involved with the Queen. Will not. Will not.

don't, then. I don't mind - the English gov't has never ONCE used its rank over us, and she's nice to have for special occasions, like good china we don't use. We managed independance without a bloody war. Granted, it took longer, but I don't mind in the slightest.

And why did you not tell me you were in Montreal? Hmm?

Honestly. :p I'm not a big fan of 3 Amigos, but there is the most AMAZING chicken restaurant at the west end of Sherbrooke St, called Chalet BBQ. Looks like a total dump, and it is, but the staff is so friendly, and the chicken is out of this world. If you get this in time, GO. Really. Unless you don't eat chicken?

LOL. Yes, I do eat chicken...I had chicken fajitas at 3 amigos! And why I didn't tell you about me being in Montreal...I honestly don't know! The weather has been AMAZING though, and I've had so much fun! We've gone to Vieux Montreal, Biodome, Botanical Gardens, LOTS of time on the metro and St.Catherines, and we went for Bubble Tea last night (soo yummy!!) and we had "Shisha" tonight. Have you heard of that? It was interesting to say the least...:P I'd say we could meet up, but I actually leave for Toronto tomorrow...so that won't work too swell! Well, off to pack up my hoards of stuff and get some sleep before heading off to the aeroport tomorrow...:) christine (http://ceck.diaryland.com)

So this year on the hill are...

Amanda Marshall, Jean-Pierre Ferland, Mixmania and Adam Gregory in the afternoon.

The Guess Who, Kevin Parent, Leahy and La Bottine Souriante perform in the evening.

And in between you have various street performers, some kind of televised reliving of Canada Day shows past (on giant screens), and of course, the Snow Birds.

Yay - Em in Ottawa for Canada Day!

Right then, let's see. Budget two and a half hours for the drive down... CanadaDay's a Tuesday this year, so that's good and doesn't clash with work in any way shape or form. Not too sure about the whole driving back at three in the morning. Probably wouldn't be a good idea. *makes puppy eyes at KcE*
Amanda Marshall is good, as is Leahy, and LBS of course. I'm sad to say I'm not very familiar with the Guess Who (BAD Canadian music fan! BAD! No biscuit!), but even if they don't turn out to be my cup of tea, anything's better'n Remy Shand. *shudder*

So... leave house at 8:30, return to house at 9:00 to get what I forgot, put cd in player and sing all the way to Ottawa. I have a new concert hat!
