I just got a review for the first fic I ever wrote.
It was complimentary (which is weird, because I honestly don't like the fic that much anymore aside from the fact that I actually got permission in writing from Maren Ord to use her song in it, which is cool.), but that's not the shocking part.
No, what surprises me is that it was posted on fanfiction.net, in the Gundam Wing Section (one of the larger anime sections there... currently 35 000-odd fics on it), in 2001. It is not long, so it wouldn't appear in most search-by-length results. It is, presumably, buried somewhere in the depths of repetitive 'next page' clicking - over 1090 pages of fic.
How the HELL did s/he find it? *boggle*
I quote: "In front of me lies the machine's heart. My heart. Not bloodied, no, but broken and crushed, sprawled on the grass looking at the sky. It was all we could do to get him out of the cockpit after it collapsed around him."
HAHAHA. Man, is that ever purple. *snicker* I was SUCH an angsty person when I wrote that, and it wasn't even GOOD angst.
Though I quite like this part: "There is a time to die. You die once you're old, once you've loved, once you've finished living. Duo hadn't. He was vibrant still, and I hadn't loved him long enough."
EDIT: and oh my goodness, they've added it to their favourites list. It's ZOMBIE!fic, back from the depths of the ffnet graveyard.

Date: 2005-10-13 04:14 am (UTC)(And why can't they have read my GOOD stuff? Hmm? Why does it have to be the first thing I ever wrote, full of death and disaster and doom and every single possible cliché known to humankind? ARGH.)
Oh well. They liked it, which is always good.
