Hm. Opinions needed.
Oct. 6th, 2005 10:00 pmThe sentence which follows is taken straight from Politics, Power and the Common Good: An Introduction to Political Science, by Mintz (yes, Grenfell people, THAT Mintz), Close, and Croci. I'm thinking it's an unfortunate, accidental word substitution, but I'd like some opinions on it before I commit what it's saying to memory, as it completely changes the meaning of the clause. (bolding mine)
"On the far right, liberal anarchists take the classical liberal idea of laissez-faire to what they see as its logical conclusion: the provision of all government services by a free marketplace, the right to use one's private property with restriction, and the elimination of taxes."
I'm thinking they mean 'without', but I'm no political scientist (don't ever want to be one, either. I like to know this sort of thing because knowing it makes me a more responsible citizen, but if I ever write a textbook -if I ever write anything - this stultifyingly boring, thwap me over the head with something, please.)
