Aug. 9th, 2005 12:51 amHeehee, I am now a redhead as much as I will ever be without bleaching my hair!
It's now a very coppery shade of dark brown. I like it a lot. I'm growing it out again, too, which isn't hard as my hair grows quite fast. Past my shoulders already, and it was at my chin in April.
Also, have been LJ-introdiced to one of my roommates for this year (or as long as she sticks around; I gather the apartments weren't her first choice so presumably she'll move if a dorm room opens up for her), and she's a friend of someone I know to have... discerning taste in friends, so she should be okay :) I have discovered that she's quiet, which is a good thing.

Date: 2005-08-09 05:39 am (UTC)I am very definitely a hobbit - down to hair on my feet (though not quite as thick and curly as Tolkien hobbits); one of my old nicknames within a certain group of people is actually Pippin. My only problem with my physcal appearance is that my eyes are lightly almond-shaped, so they go all squinty when I smile. When I'm really happy, I'm blind. :p

Date: 2005-08-09 05:47 am (UTC)Yay! I have foot-hair too! Er, over-excited a bit there, maybe. But not many people mention it. But I guess it doesn't come up in conversation much either.
Hm, isn't almond-shaped supposed to be like the most attractive shape for eyes? It comes up in books a bunch anyway, but I always thought pretty much everyone's eyes were more or less almond-shaped...

Date: 2005-08-09 05:52 am (UTC)We should have a hairy-feet convention. Mine's sort of concentrated on my big toe.
Almond-shaped is not the best descriptor for it, I agree. I prefer legerement bride (pretend the appropriate accents are there - aigu on the last e)

Date: 2005-08-09 06:01 am (UTC)Ah, bridé, hurrah I learnt a new word. ; )
Oh and someone else showed me recently it's really easy to input accents in html like this. "& eacute ;" without the quotation marks and spaces works. Then other accents follow a similar pattern, and they're all at the bottom of this page (http://www.degraeve.com/reference/specialcharacters.php). If you find that helpful at all. It's much easier than getting out the character map every time, I think.

Date: 2005-08-09 06:15 am (UTC)I like to think they make me look exotic :p I stand in front of the mirror practicing my Mysterious and Alluring Smile (tm).
It is a good word, isn't it?
I have a French-language keyboard at home; my parents isn't configurable for French :p I'm going home in a month, so I'll be able to just type properly. Can't wait.

Date: 2005-08-09 06:23 am (UTC)Hm, yes, you do a bit. Though it'd probably be easier to see on a close-up face picture.
It is a nice word. My dictionary didn't really enjoy translating it, and gave me English words I don't really know/use, but I think I've got the jist of it.
Ohh, cool. I used to have my keyboard on Windows set up for the Japanese or French keyboards, but now that I'm on Linux, I think I can only get one other, without changing my keyboard settings somewhat-permanently, so I'm sticking with an English keyboard, with Japanese input, and using tricks to get other accents in.

Date: 2005-08-09 06:26 am (UTC)As far as colour goes, my eyes are either green or grey, depending on which bit of ID you're looking at!

Date: 2005-08-09 06:29 am (UTC)Ohh that colour of eye! I knew a boy in high school who had eyes that were either green or grey, depending on what he was wearing. It was like hazel, but they weren't really brown.

Date: 2005-08-09 06:31 am (UTC)The red hair makes my eyes look greener, I think. And when I wear green or purple, they look green, too. Blues and blacks make them look grey. But yes, hazel is the official term even without the brown.

Date: 2005-08-09 06:41 am (UTC)I would imagine so, since it's a common combination. Well, more so than green eyes + any other hair colour, I think.
Ah, I always pictured hazel as that light brown that sometimes looked other colours. Didn't know it could be that one too.

Date: 2005-08-09 06:43 am (UTC)Green and brown's not that rare, either. I think green's rarest with blonde, but I could be wrong. I think it's because of the contrast; opposites on the colour wheel tend to enhance each other.
I think hazel is officially the word used to describe eyes which sometimes appear to be one colour, and sometimes another. In french c'est des yeux pers.

Date: 2005-08-09 07:32 pm (UTC)Hm, you read a lot about green eyes and black hair in books, but I don't think I've ever seen that one.
That's probably right about the colours enhancing each other. I was thinking some last night about hazel eyes and er how they work with changing colours. Yup...
Gosh. I am learning French words all over the place. (Or just here.)
