I got a parcel from my wonderful Mummy who sent me an ADVENT CALENDAR! With CHOCOLATE!

(She never used to let us have the chocolate ones. Greowing up, we got ones with pretty pictures.)

On a completely, utterly different topic, do you know if Ponderosa is likely to let me make an icon using her art? I've emailed to ask, and her decision is final of course, but I'd like to know if it's worth the effort to get started before she answers.

I've seen lots of icons based on her artwork, a lot of it depends on if it was a commission or not. If the piece is a commission, she'll have you get the permission of the person who commissioned it. You might pop over to her LJ and ask... I know her e-mail is usually backed waaaay up, and sometimes she sees LJ notes quicker.

Ah. Right then.

... does it say next to the art on her website if the piece was a commission or not? I've checked, and I honestly can't tell. (It's probably blindingly obvious). There's one piece which she says is in the notes, but as I don't want to use that one, not much help :-s

I think it depends on how old the pic is. She wasn't doing all that stuff with the notes early on, so if it's an older piece, it might not say.

Arg. Wrote proper response, and LJ ate it. According to the onsite FAQ (which I didn't spot the first time around. Way to not RTFM, moron), anything's fair game unless it was commissioned by someone (as you said). To be extra safe, I picked things that a) had notes, b) did not say in any way shape or form "commissioned by" or "for so-and-so", and c) were labelled as exercises in perspective or somesuch.

I think I'll be safe. I finished the icon, and it is pretty :D
