I had my meeting with Nick. He shuffled me down to the registrar's office to get an 'audit' done. He suggested it and I was all "no, my account's up to date, I don't owe the school any money, why is this relevant?" Turns out he meant an audit comparing what I have credit-wise with what I need credit-wise.

We then discussed etymology of people's names, which was interesting. I think it started when he said "you should go talk to Paddy Monoghan about that course", and I said "who?" and he said "He's the Irish guy."

My response? "With a name like Paddy Monoghan, he'd better be Irish." Hilarity ensued. And possibly wacky hijinks.

Nominal etymology, fascinating as it was, was not however the business of the day. We discussed the possibility of taking a Philosophy class (Me: Ew!), a chemistry class (the "Ew" was Nick's this time. I said "But I _like_ Chemistry!" "You're weird.")

So... possibilities still include that creative writing class, but there's a 4000-level Polisci class on Environmental Policy which looks interesting and that he thinks my knowledge base is wide enough for. Plus, it's taught by the EVST department head, which is a plus. There's also a general chemistry class he thought I'd like (you can make your own detergent! think how much money you'll save! And then there's the -his voice got all quiet and he grinned - hallucinogens!), and a couple of others. He suggests taking the kinetics class next semester, because otherwise I might end up having to take four Dave classes in one semester. He also suggested an economics class, but since it's not my favorite subject in the world and I'm already taking one next semester, we decided against it. I've got some research to do and points to ponder, and am under orders to come back and talk to him again on Monday. Yay!

There's other courses he thinks I should take, but not next semester. "You don't _technically_ have to take the third-year courses before the fourh-year ones, but you really _should_. It'll make your life easier." Which makes sense. They're the type of course I want to go into knowing as much as possible beforehand anyway.

He suggested just getting the textbook for the kinetics and rec class, if it was Dave's lectures I didn't like and just taking the tests. I'd take his suggestion, but it seems so disrespectful to not go to lectures. Even if it's someone whose teaching skills I don't hold much respect for, it seems like common courtesy to go to the classes. I do respect the person.

Maybe his higher-level classes will be more interesting? *holds out hope, because the school must have hired him for a reason!*

Next semester promises to be interesting, at any rate. Lots of funky stuff going on.
