I am the consumer.
Oct. 25th, 2004 08:05 pmI took Ashton out tonight for a meal to celebrate her first smoke-free month. She's doing really well. Go Ashton.
We wound up going to the mall (spiffy, I know), because we both had errands there anyway. I had to buy a Christmas present for Older Cousin, and she needed a Hallowe'en card for her nephew and a mop.
What's more, I had a gift certificate, a five-dollar-on-purchase-of-thhirty-dollars-or-more coupon, and my ten-percent-off card. :D
I bought:
Quidditch Through The Ages x2 (one for Older Cousin, one for me)
The box set of Harry Potter books 1-4 (because I didn't have them, and there's no point in waiting for the seven-book box set because I have OotP in hardcover, and I will have books six and seven in harcover as well because I'm just not that patient)
"A Short History of Nearly Everything" by Bill Bryson, who is one of the men whose writing style I admire the most - the man is hilarious.
I also went to Reitman's and purchased a pair of trousers with a plastic button. See, I'm allergic to the metal buttons, and my last non-metal-button trousers were transparent in places they should not be transparent in. I've been wearing jeans with a metal button for a week now, and woke up bleeding this morning, so I decided I'd had enough. I wore the trousers out of the store. (no, putting nail polish on the inside of the buttons does not work, thank you, I've tried). With a bit of luck, the skin on my abdomen will resemble skin again in a week or so.
The independant bookstore had "Sharpe's Sword" on sale... $4.99. I looked at it longingly, and put it down. We were waiting for the bus (we had ten minutes or so) and Ashton said "hang on, I just need to go to the bathroom, watch my stuff" and came back five minutes later and shoved a brown paper bag into my hands. So now I have "Sharpe's Sword". I love my best friend.
