I just came across the expression "A Pre-Madonna".

Hee!

So... would that be someone from before the eighties with an inflated opinon of themselves? Or someone from before, say, 20 BC?

The correct expression is 'prima donna' (lit: first lady/woman in Italian), a term originally coined for lead sopranos in operas, who tended to be very... er... well, prima donna-ish. That is to say, everythinghad to be perfect, and why are there a dozen scarlet roses on my table when I specified that they be crimson, and I simply cannot work with that vocal coach, I demand that he be fired immediately!

As for the icon, I honestly can't remember. It's been bugging me, too, because I have cut my hair and don't look like that anymore!
