Let's see if LJ will let me update instead of being stupid like it's been for the last couple of days.

First! My aunt is much better, back home, and had a nice long chat with my mother about hospital food (food being my aunt's very favorite conversational topic, with second prize honours going to Kleenex, which has very pretty boxes), so that's good. Thanks to everyone who left messages and hugs and good thoughts and such. *hugs you all in a very big hug indeed*

Second! My old Girl Guide leader (who was my Guider for... *counts* a very long time indeed) was in town last night. She works in the tourism industry, booking group tours, that sort of thing, and the Newfoundland government had invited a busload of tourism people from across the country to go on a whirlwind visit of the island, presumably in the hopes of drumming up business. We had breakfast together at an ungodly hour (it was still dark when I woke up!) at the Glynmill Inn, which is very swish. I had Eggs Benedict (yum), which I don't get to have very often, and we talked about all the people back home. It was nice. She brought me a hug from my mother, and I burst out laughing the minute I saw it, because I knew exactly what it was. See, when I was little, every Christmas, my mother would make me lie down with arms spread on a big piece of paper and trace around my torso and head. We'd cut it out, and decorate it, and it was a hug to send to my grandparents, just my size... and so when Val handed me a rolled-up piece of oddly-shaped brown paper, I smiled. Tradition, doncha know. She also sent me a gift card for a book (whoohoo!) and strawberry Pocky, which was very yummy indeed. (Not that many Asian grocery stores in Corner Brook, nope. Not even a decent Chinese restaurant. There is one, but it's MSG central. Ew)

I love my mother.

Third! Our house is apparently infested with flying zombie mice. One has already attacked my sister in its hunt for brains. My parnets remain curiously unattacked - perhaps their brains have already been removed?

Yes, maggots and all indeed. I felt like I was crawling with them for hours afterwards 0.0; And yes...the mouse trap was waaay too close to the hatch, so it tumbled out when I opened it. Ew.
