framlingem: (take that)
I have had a hotmail email address, the same one even, for eight years now. It has served me well. I have stuck with it.

It may soon be vanishing, and I may be contacting people with a new address, if I can find an email server that has what I'm looking for.

The reason I stuck with hotmail so long is quite simple: I hate Outlook. I loathe Outlook and email thingies that take after it. I hate the way it looks, the way it works, the way everything's in little frames and not a full window. I need full windows. It drives me nuts not being able to see the whole of something, and to read my emails two lines at a time. This is the reason my screen resolution is huge, even though it makes things smaller.

Hotmail is now, as far as I can tell, forcing 'Livemail' on me. Which, surprise, looks and feels like Outlook. I am lost. It drives shivers up my spine at how incomplete it feels without an email in a full window. It has a wonderful little option button, which changes the colour scheme.

I don't care about the colour scheme. I want to be able to read and reply to email without feeling ants crawling all over me. I want Old Hotmail Style back. Why is that not an option? Why is 'simple, unstreamlined, functional and uncluttered' not an option? I don't want my email inbox to be purple. Or green. Or red. Or to have a fetching black stripe down the side.

Anyone know a free email service which doesn't work like Outlook? Please don't point me to gmail, I tried it and dislike it almost as intensely as Outlook.
