I haven't written about New Orleans yet, because I can't find words strong enough that haven't already been said. I am angry and sad and wishing there were something more I could do.

That being said: [livejournal.com profile] fandom_aid_auct is, as the name implies, an auction to raise money for relief efforts, now and afterwards (disease is likely to be a problem; the watershed will probably be contaminated for a long time). Instead of paying money to the person selling their wares, you make a donation to the Red Cross or any of the other appropriate organisations and send the receipt to the person in lieu of payment, so you know that the right people are getting the money. There's a couple of good items on there already, and a little bird told me that there will be at least one Really Cool Thing in the near future - check it out.

framlingem: (oh brother)
I am coveting Rurouni Kenshin box sets. This is not a good thing. What I shall do with the part-time job (or editing money, or what-have-you) I plan to do this year is put aside ten dollars of my salary a week in a Kenshin box. That seems reasonable to me, I think. Twelve weeks and (provided pricing remains steady on half.com) I should be able to purchase them.

(Or I could pretend I was quitting smoking and put the price of a pack of cigarettes in the box every couple of days :p)

This is, of course, assuming I can get a part-time job. I've already applied at Treats.

... sigh. I swore I'd never be The Muffin Girl again, but since it's a job I won't have to actually learn anything for (except how to get up early), it'd be nice. My grades aren't good enough for a peer tutoring job - I wonder if Geography 1000 or 1001 require SI leaders? I could do that.

Edit: "The typical love rectangle" is possibly the most unintentionally funny fic summary I've seen in months. It wouldn't be so funny if the author wasn't completely serious.
