In order to double-space, says the WordPerfect help file, simply go to Format -> Line -> Spacing.

Very good, except for one teensy, tiny little detail. There is no "Line" option in my "Format" menu. Which makes doing the above a tad difficult.

End result is my GIS paper got emailed, single-spaced, so that it would be there on time, with a pathetic little note attached apologising for the single-spacing, explaining that WordPerfect is teh devil, and that there will shortly be a properly spaced and paginated hardcopy under his door upon his return. (It had to be in by noon because the prof flies home to Ottawa today and has to catch his flight out of Deer Lake).

I want Word. I miss Word. It wasn't perfect, and the spellcheck and such SUCKED, but I knew how to use it and we had a wary respect for each other.

The introductory paragraph for my (very short because he only wanted 1000 words) GIS paper, in case anyone would like to know what I sound like when I'm being academic. )

I'm all happy that I managed to work in the new Airbus (which I think is very cool), pileated woodpeckers, and the words "iteration" and "plethora". Doing the references was a bit difficult at one point, though, because one article was written by three Chinese people, and I didn't know if they were written up surname first or surname last. I gambled on last because it was a translation of the original article into English for an American journal, and made a note to that effect.

The paper title was "Indistinguishable from Magic: A Brief Overview of Internet and Virtual Reality Geographic Information Systems". You can tell it's academic and scholarly because of the colon. One paper left. *worships Dr. S. for giving the entire class extensions until Monday* Now I'll actually be able to hand in a good paper, rather than something nobody in their right mind would want to read.
