Jun. 15th, 2005 01:56 pmMy mother and I were having a conversation the other day about penmanship styles, prompted by her comment that the first-graders at the school she teaches at haven't learned cursive yet despite it being on the curriculum. Me, I print. I can write in cursive (but not the capital letters - I use print capitals when I'm writing in script, because for some reason I never learnt the capital), but I don't because I find it's slower. Odd that, since the whole idea of not lifting one's pen from the page is supposed to save time. My script is perfectly legible, though. My grandparents write in script. I have a hypothesis that people more than ten years older than me will tend to use script, people between twelve and thirty-five will tend to print, and people under the age of twelve will use script if they know it, as script is "grownup". If you have kids, could you put a comment with the age of said kid and what sort of writing they tend to use? Thanks!
