Oct. 1st, 2012 03:59 pmMy choir's first rehearsal for our Christmas concert was last night. I was extremely pleased when we got the schedule and our concert isn't the same weekend as the play - that was exhausting last spring, and would have been even worse this time around as I'll be spending even more time at the theatre during production week! It's a nice group of songs, too, and we're doing one of my favourites, so that's good.
What's a bit less good is that right now there are twenty sopranos and all of four altos (with a possible two more!), which means that we're struggling a bit to be heard. All will be well, though, our choir director's amazing and will Sort Things Out. (I do know at least one alto singer who'd be an awesome addition if she wanted to join, but I don't think she does, even if it is only until 9-ish on a Sunday night and therefore not late at all.) (Hi Mum!)
One thing we'll be doing this December is singing at the Centre d'Accueil in St-Bruno, which I'm happy about. It's a geriatric care facility, and someone I loved very much spent her last years there. They're good people; several of the nurses worked really hard to improve their English for her. They're not expecting the whole choir, but I wouldn't miss it.
