Feb. 3rd, 2012 08:22 pmSo, I had the not-really-an-audition for the choir this evening. It wasn't to see if I could join or not (apparently anyone can join if they're not tone-deaf), but I was still nervous. It went well, though! I matched notes on the piano on the first try every time, though I couldn't do it if she played a chord. (I'm not sure why the chords. Nobody can sing three notes at once unless they're Agnes Nitt! Who is fictional! Maybe she wanted to see if I could pick out the middle note?)
Also, and this is going to be hilarious to anyone who's heard me singing in the shower, I'll be singing alto. I can hit the notes, and they have a 14:6 soprano:alto ratio, so she was really hoping I'd be able to go low, and lo! I could. Pun intended, obviously. This means it's going to be more difficult, but she said I could stand between two experienced hands so that I'd have the Right Notes coming in both ears, which should help.
Hee. I'm looking forward to Sunday. I do feel a little weird singing religious music in a church (apparently they sing a variety of stuff, but this season is going to be a gospel concert) because it feels a little disrespectful since it's not my church or my religion - I wouldn't drink wine during a Catholic Mass, either, for instance, though I've drunk wine and attended Masses - but I'll just have to get over that particular hangup.
Wheee!
