My father and I strongly disagree on several political issues.

It's a credit to him, then, that throughout my life, he has not, for the most part, discussed politics with me, beyond instilling in me a sense of responsibility to be educated, informed, and to act on that information by considering it and then voting accordingly. Growing up, he provided me with access to information, and when I had questions, he answered them factually and in an unbiased manner.

My father has always let me make my own decisions. I am very grateful to him for that, and I am proud of him as well, because that is not an easy thing to do. Despite our disagreements, I am very glad he's my dad, because his influence has made me a better person.

Happy Father's Day.
