I have a day off. And a banana. And crackers, and Havarti (yum!) which was fifty percent off yesterday and so I bought some, as [livejournal.com profile] quiva has got me on a total Havarti kick.

I also have a movie to watch, and last night's "Supernatural".

*happy sigh*

One of my customers who is a darling old guy from Virginia instructed me in no uncertain tones to "enjoy [my] day off, young woman." So I am. (We're buddies now. I've been working with him for a month now trying to get his truck fixed to his satisfaction. There's nothing actually wrong with his truck, see, which is why it's taking so long. I'm at the "okay, start probing into whether he's interested in just getting a new truck at this point and if he is get him the maximum possible gift certificate towards a new truck which is about three thousand dollars" point now. He and his wife are lovely people, though.)

[livejournal.com profile] darcedor and [livejournal.com profile] ladyshrew, you two need to meet up. Seriously you do. You'd love each other (I know this because I love both of you, and you wouldn't question my impeccable taste in friends, now would you?), and you're both in England right now, which means by our North-American-Bigass-Country standards you're next-door neighbours and totally COULD. I think you're even both in the Southern (ie, not North) bit - I can't remember [livejournal.com profile] darcedor's precise location.

I'm just saying.

First, I would just like to say, "Damn you, Kripke, I was writing that story and then you had to go and make it bleeding canon, didn't you. Hmph."

I dream of, well. )

Little sidenote: I have just received, in the space of about an hour, three non-junk emails from three different people with a subject of "Hi from St-Bruno".

This is somewhat spooky. They're good emails, though. One is from someone who I just realised is the "my-age-friend" who has known me longest. We went to the same elementary school, and while I didn't really become "friends" with her until CEGEP (as opposed to good acquaintances), she's one of the people who was always kind to me, and when she knew me better (when I got the self-confidence to ALLOW people to know me better, maybe), she believed in me. She was the first person ever to tell me that I'd make a good psychologist; she remembered, in CEGEP, that even in elementary school I used to like writing poems.

She's just got her B.Ed. My mother saw her doing some practice-teaching, and was impressed as anything. She's been struck with the same impression of St-Bruno as I was nearly four years ago. Namely, that "it's kind of boring. Nothing ever changes." So she got my email from Mum and asked me a bunch of questions about what it's like living in the Maritimes (I was nice enough not to point out that technically, Newfoundland isn't the Maritimes, but Atlantic Canada, especially given the fact that half of Anglo-St-Bruno thinks I live in Nova Scotia.) and away-from-home in general. She wants to have an Adventure - go teach overseas - but she wants to try a baby-step and live in a different province first.

I told her the truth - it's a good place to live, except for the price of milk and fruit. I've also invited her to come visit me sometime, for a try-before-you-buy thing. I really hope she takes me up on it. I'd love to see her. We get along in a very quiet sort of way.

Besides, Newfoundland is starving for people to teach French. :p I told her that, too, along with "my mother would give you a recommendation any day of the week, she thinks you're awesome." Which is true. After they taught in the same classroom for a bit, Mum phoned me up to tell me what a good teacher she was. No other reason. Just that.

One of the other ones is someone asking me for information about Mum, who is having a Milestone Birthday (21 again. Duh!) shortly. Her friends are being sneeeeeeeeeaky and planning a birthday breakfast out for her so that they can thoroughly embarrass her in the nicest way possible. Teehee.
