Mar. 7th, 2006 12:08 pmThe governer signed the bill yesterday,
in South Dakota
existing life no longer sacred.
I feel for the babies,
reminders of a terrible thing,
with no response to cries of "your father
was a rapist!";
for the mother with too many children already
who cannot feed them all
even with foodstamps
and cries because she loves them and they are hungry;
for the lover watching
their lover die
because the doctors cannot legally save them,
though they have the tools
(please tell the courts how you know she would have died,
was there not a chance?);
for the little girl, losing her life slowly
with the growth of her belly
(nobody taught her about condoms,
they said abstinence or you're lost anyway,
why bother?
Birth control pills are for whores.)
Pro-life, they call themselves,
as if anyone is anti-life;
I look through my window
at living people
living trees,
living birds,
living planet
and it is miraculous and wondrous
and I am as for life as anyone can be for anything;
they would call me a murderer.
There they are killing women,
enslaving them
to a collection of undifferentiated cells,
and a system which is at best indifferent
and inaccessible;
They would force her to do it far from home,
as if abortion wasn't painful enough for a woman,
they are proud to call themselves American
life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
