What Turned Into the Food Post.
Mar. 9th, 2005 01:40 am...and I'm not even hungry!
Tomorrow, I am going down to Sobey's and the More-for-less to get groceries. Does anybody need anything? (alt - does anybody want to come with me and help me defray cab costs on the way back?)
I made spag bol last night, with my World Famous Very-Nearly-Tomato-Free-Meat Sauce (it has ketchup. In small quantities.)
Of all the foods to not like, tomatoes and onions have got to be the most frustrating. They're in EVERYTHING. When I was a child, my mother told me constantly that "you can't taste the onions. Honestly, Emily Claire." (You could tell she was annoyed with me, because she called me Emily Claire.) I always wondered what was the point of putting the damn slimy things in there, if you couldn't taste them. (I'm getting less wimpy when it comes to spices, at least. My roommate made a very mild chili the other day, and I could eat it, provided it had cheese on it and I had a glass of milk at hand. It's pathetic, really.)
On the other hand, I adored (and still do) spinach, brussels sprouts, and brocoli (... what language did I write that in? Is it broccoli in English and brocoli in French, or the other way around?). Mmm.
I have enough spaghetti sauce to last a week, so I froze a bunch of it. Spaghetti for supper last night and lunch today, and supper tonight was chicken pie with carrots, broccoli (fifty-fifty chance... :p), and cauliflower. Mmmm.
( my grocery list, because I don't have any paper handy. Sad excuse for a student, me. Mixed weights and measures, because most stuff is imported from the States and comes in pounds, but reasonable stuff comes in grams. )
