Jan. 4th, 2005 01:51 pmI had tea with my Auntie S. today. Well, she had tea - I had hot chocolate. Except I thought she was making me tea too (black tea), so when she asked if I took sugar in it, I said yes, as that's the only way I can drink black teas. *facepalm*
That was the sweetest hot chocolate I have ever drunk.
I had fun, though. She showed me all the photos of her most recent trip to Scotland, and the shores of the loch where she scattered her mother's (my Wee Grandma) ashes. It was beautiful. And she had a picture of a baby Angus cow! I nearly drowned in the cuteness. Somewhere along the way, I mentioned Runrig, and it turned out she is their Number One Fan, so we put on their "Beat the Drum" album.
Then Mum came over and had a cup of tea as well.
(Aunti S. is not actually my aunt. Mum's best friend, yes.)
And now Mum is insisting on taking me bra shopping. I am quite capable of buying my own underwear. Quietly. Discreetly. Mum turns it into a production.
Gah.

You act like a 3 year old most of the time but you have a ton of talent stored inside you. You are passionate about the things you're good at and you love to have fun. You always have a cute stuffed animal beside you and you love to play around with it. You have a weird way of helping people, but you help them nevertheless. XD Take the quiz at Dare to Dream |

Jan. 4th, 2005 07:35 pmI'm not particularly impressed with Martin and the rest of the federal government right now. It's fine, even laudable, to weigh all the options and everything and wait to be asked to join in when we're talking about a war, something destructive.
But not when it's a question of giving aid to people. Our DART team is sitting on the ground. Martin decided to wait 'until Sri Lanka asked for our help'. That's like... not calling an ambulance for someone, because they were unconscious and couldn't ask you to. We only just decided to go in anyway.
Estimated time for the DART team to be in the field? Early next week.
That's not a Disaster Action Relief Team. That's cleanup and body disposal. And there'll be a heck of a lot more bodies to dispose of, which to my mind is negligence.
I am not impressed at all.
I haven't said anything about the tsunami and earthquake before, but it's been in my thoughts. I simply don't have any words big enough; no language was designed with a vocabulary to describe something this huge.
