I caught the woodpecker sitting still for long enough for me to check out its head. Ladies and gentlemen, the bird that has been tormenting me by having a secret identitiy is indeed a Three-Toed Woodpecker.
Haha! Gotcha, my pretty!
Er... yeah. Okay. I just feel smart now.
English in three quarters of an hour, and we're back to Keats. Arg.
I am beginning to hate Keats. We haven't done anything even remotely un-classical style, except for one poem by William Carlos William, and we spent maybe ten minutes on that.
I want to do Dickinson or cummings, durnit.

Jan. 29th, 2004 06:29 pmToday might just be My Day.
My eBay purchase arrived today. Whoohoo! (nevermind that I haven't got any sound on my computer and therefore cannot watch them. Bah.)
My geography teacher says I can take my midterm after getting back from St. John's, instead of before leaving.
I have new extra-fine pens, specifically for cartography.
While buying said pens, I noticed that 'Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead', the last text for my English class, was finally in.
While paying for the above icons, I was asked if I was in residence, and after hearing my affirmative answer, the woman presented me with a 2L bottle of coke, which was leftover from something or other and earmarked for residents.
My ski textbook finally arrived, as well, and it's really cool.
And now I have astronomy class. How cool does life get?
(aside - only bad thing about today was I counted, and I'm going to be in St. John's when Space airs 'Meridian', which I haven't seen yet and was looking forward to. Maybe Nicki could record it for me? *hopeful look*)

Er... There was a quiz in astronomy class tonight, which it would have been nice to know about in advance, but no... when I went to ask the professor what material I should read about to make up for the class I missed when I was sick, he'd forgotten to mention it.
It was written in the syllabus, but I'd written it down for next week on my calendar.
On the other hand, I think I did pretty well. Thank you, Dad, for getting me into astronomy as a hobby from the time I was seven so that I already knew most of the material we've covered so far. (All one really needs to remember is 'Oh be a fine girl, kiss me'... cookies to whoever knows what that mnemonic device is for!). I also had not spent any time stressing over the test, which probably helped as well. I do better on things I don't study for.
Afterwards I took 'Sharpe's Rifles' down to the Mac Lab and watched it on an Emac. I now have a sound driver installed, and it's even the right one - however, during startup the words 'cannot find something something' flash over my screen, and it's in C:/Windows and has the word 'audio' in it. Therefore I'm still missing something or other - I'm going to try rebooting a few times and watching it, and maybe I'll figure out what it says. It's only up for a moment.
*sigh* I had forgotten just how sexy Sean Bean is in a Rifleman's uniform. I mustn't watch any of these in the company of other people, I don't think.
