Huzzah!

(There will be a longer me-post later; this bit of news, however, totally deserves its own post.)

Framlingem, Inc, would like to extend its congratulations to the University of New Brunswick for showing evident good taste and judgement in sending a letter of acceptance to One Smart Chica, to wit, [livejournal.com profile] lifelongmanic.

She'll do great things. Imagine how stupid you'd have felt had you not accepted her.

Sincerely,
[livejournal.com profile] framlingem, CEO.

(I'm so proud of you, darlin'. I know UNB's not your first choice, but frankly, McGill would be idiots to turn you down. If I was in the neighbourhood, dinner and drinks would be on me tonight!)

I have the Smartest Sister In The World, in my completely and utterly unbiased opinion. When she is a famous marine biologist or similar, I shall follow her around and bask in her well-educated glow.

UNB is a wonderful university, am still trying to convince daughter that it is actually better than UofT in many ways, including the fact her father and grandmother went there. Anyway, yes, I know UNB and she is in a fine place there. Hope she accepts going there. Plus it's closer to you!

I don't think she will go to UNB when McGill accepts her; McGill has a program which matches her interests perfectly, and she'd be able to stay on the West Island, which is a place she loves very much.

I can't say I wouldn't like to have her closer to me, but I'd rather she gets her dream. :) Logistics-wise, it takes about the same amount of time for a flight from Deer Lake to Fredericton as it does from Deer Lake to Montreal, so it won't matter much unless I planned to drive, and then it's only nine hours' difference.

Having just finished my degree at UNB I can say that it is a fantastic school and I know she will enjoy herself here. :) Tell her congrats!

I'm pointing her at this entry so that she can hear for herself :) I've heard nothing but good things about UNB. They want my sister, they're clearly good ;)

Ooo, pass along my congrats. :) My best friend graduated from UNB Fredericton last spring and she has nothing but good things to say about it, so I'm sure that your sister would be quite happy at UNB, too. :)

I hope she gets accepted at her first choice, and with your bragging, I'm sure she will, but if by some cosmic disaster, they turn her down, then I'm sure she'll be quite content at UNB. :)

One of her best friends is in New Brunswick, so I'm sure she wouldn't mind moving to Fredericton TOO much ;) But she really wants McGill, so I have my fingers crossed.

UNB is great, but if McGill is what she wants, then my fingers are crossed for her, too. :)

She wants McGill even more than I wanted MUN.

That said, she is a fantastic student, bright, hardworking, and generally awesome. McGill would be idiots not to take her.

Oh! And speaking of my little sister... I am trying to get her to come visit me this summer.

Where are you likely to be this summer? Because if it's anywhere near St. John's, and if she can make it, I would like for two of my favourite people to meet each other.

[identity profile] super-becka.livejournal.com 2007-02-25 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
OK, first, fingers are still crossed that she gets accepted at McGill, I wouldn't imagine that she'll have much trouble with that. :)

Second, I'm not entirely sure where I'll be this summer, but it's looking like I'll probably be at home, unless by some miracle, I can get a work visa for the US again, so if you can convince your sister to visit this summer, let me know, I'd love to meet her. :)
