Another goalie?
Aug. 1st, 2005 09:41 pmSo the Habs' first pick in the draft is a goaltender.
Now, I recognise that Montreal's main strength historically has been goaltending, but really. We are not lacking for goaltenders. Theodore is not the genius Roy was, true (who is?), but he's highly competent, consistent, and much more of an agreeable personality. No diva blowups there. Garon's not bad either. Neither of them is likely to retire soon, AND we've got another one in the wings who I've never seen play but is, by all accounts, pretty good.
Our current problem is not goaltending. Our problem is that it's difficult for a goaltender to let in fewer goals than their opposite when the rest of the team is not scoring.
Honestly. Some more forwards (or defensemen, come to that! A team can never have enough good defensemen!) would have been a good idea.

Aug. 1st, 2005 10:05 pmI have discovered that it is a lot of fun to pick out furniture one can't afford for the house one doesn't have yet, from a store which doesn't exist in the province said house would be in. Using someone else's IKEA catalogue, no less.
It really is. Wood, throughout, I'd like - no metal except for handles on drawers and knobs and things. Glass, perhaps.
My kitchen, I want to paint in yellows and grass green, with sky blue place settings and cushions on the chairs; a sitting room in blues and creams, and green and rusty-red in the bedroom. A guest room will be done in purple. Glow in the dark stars on the kitchen ceiling.
I can't wait to have a place of my own, one that I will live in for more than eight months at a time. Typical Taurus, that, much as astrology is fun for me but not to be taken serious - I like the idea of 'my space'. It doesn't need to be big, but the windows do, I think. I love big windows, with tie-back curtains - no slat blinds for me, thank you. And god, no carpets. Give me tile/linoleum in the kitchen and bath, and wood in the rest. I hate the noise vacuums make - I'd much rather just sweep. Or Swiffer! Love Swiffer products, though I'd like them more if you could recycle or reuse the cloths.
I have my perfect house in my head. What's the betting it doesn't exist? ROFL.
And the furniture'll take a while. I think I'll work on decent appliances first, and just have a recliner to begin with - I can sleep in it, eat in it, sit and read in it; anything else is a luxury.
The hard part's going to be keeping a good credit rating, and getting a decent job so I can afford it. Castles in the sky are expensive.
How will you decorate your Castle in the Sky?
